We are pleased to announce that NDC received an Honor Award for excellence in design for their Highland Park Modern project by the Society of Registered Architects (SARA) at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC this past weekend. We were selected from more than 360 entrants from across the country for our 4 unit attached single family residence project which is a urban suburban hybrid project located in Highland Park, IL. It was designed specifically for empty nesters for barrier free living on the ground level so that they can age in place without concern about accessibility as they age. This is achieved without feeling institutional in any way. The design was influenced by early Southern California Modernists but with durable materials to stand up to harsh Chicago weather.
I am grateful to my staff Gavin Bardes and Christina Giordano, and to our Building team led by Mike Kelly and Dave Smith of Kelly I Smith Construction.
